1. Volkswagen Passat - Sold over 15 million

   The model launched in 1973 and over the years has become a mid-sized favorite. It's known for its robust construction, strong engine, and timeless look.

2. Ford Model T - Sold over 15 million

   Model T was the first genuinely affordable car that anyone could own from 1908 to 1927. It was reliable, durable, and easy to drive (for that period).

3. Honda Accord - Sold over 17 million

   Since its launch in 1976, this Honda model has always been a top seller. Through the decades, it has proven to be reliable, quality built, and held its value. Today Honda Accord is considered one of the best sedans on the market.

4. Ford Escort - Sold over 18 million

   I must admit this was my very first car, and I have loved that it provided excellent gas mileage, was small enough for the college life and held up well over time. This particular modal, due to its size, was a major hit in Europe.

5. Honda Civic - Sold over 18 million

   This front-wheel-drive vehicle is reliable and known to be super customizable with a lot of aftermarket accessories. To this day, this car has the best resale value.

6. VAZ 2101 - Sold over 19 million

   The American public might not be as familiar with this brand. VAZ or Lada was extremely popular in Eastern Europe. This model was all the rage in the 70s and has remained on the market till 2012. This particular modal was a bit subpar on both performance and reliability, but it was affordable.

7. Volkswagen Beetle - Sold over 23 million

   Twenty-three million includes both the classic and modern versions of the Beetle. This powerful yet small vehicle launched in 1938 and gained incredible popularity in the 50s, becoming an icon. Unfortunately newer model has not gained as much popularity as its predecessor.

8. Volkswagen Golf - Sold over 30 million

   Volkswagen has three cars on this list, and that is saying something about the manufacturer. The Golf model was designed to boost sales when the new generation Beetle failed to make a splash. The car comes in different options from fuel-friendly diesel to sporty GTI, and Golf R. This car is fast and fun to drive.

9. Ford F-Series - Sold over 40 million

   Ford F-series has been the best-selling truck since the 70s. This truck is tough, will last a lifetime, haul massive loads, tow large trailers, and won't quit. Competitors such as Nissan Titan and Toyota Tundra fail to produce the same amount of sales.

10. Toyota Corolla - Sold over 43 million

    Corolla is not the most exciting car; however, if you take a look at the road, you probably will see Corrollas dating to 80s still being driven. This particular model is great on gas, long-lasting, easy to fix, and won't quit even with the most forgetful maintenance owner.
